What is Holistic Nutrition?

Holistic Nutrition is based on using real foods and proper eating habits to improve one’s health.

Though mainstream medicine rarely considered nutrition as a contributing factor to various health issues, most of us realize that proper nutrition is beneficial for our health and wellbeing. With the variety of conflicting information out there on what to eat and what to avoid, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and confused. This is where Holistic Nutrition fits in. Because our bodies have an innate ability to heal, Holistic Nutrition gives the body the food and energy it needs to attain and maintain optimal health.

What is a Holistic Nutritionist?

Holistic Nutritionists (R.H.N.) are trained in natural nutrition and complementary therapies, whose principal function is to educate individuals and groups about the benefits and health impacts of optimal nutrition.

Through my training at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition, I am qualified to work with clients to identify and help correct nutritional imbalances which may result in disease. I will also design a personalized diet and lifestyle program for you that will support optimal health. My goal as an R.H.N. is to educate and empower you to make the best possible choices to meet your personal performance or health goals.

Who Can Benefit From Holistic Nutrition?

Who can benefit? Everyone! My mission is to educate, empower and inspire you to take control of your health. The power is in each one of us to heal our own body and become our best self! If you or a loved one struggles with an illness or a problem such as weight issues, a brain injury, Diabetes, metabolic syndrome, digestive disorders, IBS/IBD, acid reflux, allergies, food sensitivities, thyroid issues, autoimmune conditions, hormone imbalances, arthritis, ADD/ADHD, Candidiasis, yeast infections, PMS, menopause, osteoporosis, or any other health condition you would like to better manage it’s time to make a change and finally experience what it feels like to be genuinely healthy!

Alternatively, I can help if: you have already taken steps toward improved health and want assistance fine-tuning your current program. You generally feel well but wish to improve mental function, cognition or performance. You’re looking for a cleanse or detox program. You’re interested in again gracefully. You want to feel more confident and love the body you’re in.

What Is Neuronutrition?

Neuronutrition refers to how food and certain nutrients affect the brain and its functions. Your brain requires certain nourishment to maintain its health and cognitive function. As such, what you feed your body, you are also feeding your brain. The importance of what we eat and feed our brain cannot be understated.

By providing your brain with specific nutrients that support neurological functions and processes, you can improve the health of your brain, strengthen memory, restore cognitive function after a brain injury, maintain or even optimize cognitive function as you age, and improve personal productivity.

Can Nutrition Impact Whether or Not I Get Sick? Or is it All in My Genes?

Genetics do play a role in disease, but they influence only 10% of our risk. Even better, your lifestyle can influence how and if your genes express disease. That means your lifestyle choices can actually turn your genes on or off, directly affecting your health.

Which Supplements Should I Take?

Except in the case of resolving a vitamin deficiency, the best source of balanced nutrition is food. Kelly’s approach starts with selecting the right food choices for you first, then adds supplements if necessary.

What Do I Do About Prescpritons From My Doctor?

Kelly is not a medical doctor, so she cannot recommend you stop taking any of your prescription medications. Instead, she can counsel you about food, nutrition, and various lifestyle components that can contribute to your health status. Under the supervision of a physician, you may be able to lower (or in some cases discontinue) your medications after making lifestyle modifications recommended by Kelly.

How Many Appointments Can I Expect?

The number of appointments an individual may require for nutrition counselling varies. It will depend on your current health status, the pace at which you make the recommended changes, and your health and wellness goals. Because of the dynamic aspect of Holistic Nutrition, the number of sessions cannot always be so predictable until after at least an initial consult. As a patient-centered healthcare model, together, you and Kelly will determine your future appointments.

Do You Accept Insurance?

Please contact your insurance provider to see if your plan extends coverage to include nutritional counselling services.

If you do not have third party coverage, your receipts may be used as a tax deduction for medical expenses.

What Form of Payment Do You Accept?

At this time we accept all major credit cards, e-transfer, cash or check. Payment in full is expected at the time of your session.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

If you must cancel an appointment, please be respectful of Kelly’s time and provide at least 48 hours of notice prior to the appointment.

A $40 fee will be charged for any missed appointments.

Do You Consult With International Clients?

Yes! Many of my clients are not from Canada.
